Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bulent Katiboglu
Dean of Istanbul Atlas University Faculty of Dentistry

He was born in 1961. He graduated from the Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1984. He began working as a PhD student in Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department In 1988. He has a doctorate study in dental surgery under general anesthesia for children. He has worked advanced dental implant surgery in Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet), in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1994. He received the title of Professor, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2000. He works currently in Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Because of his international scientific studies, received a certificate of appreciation from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 1998. He is chief editor of the Journal of Dental Turkish group and The British Dental Journal’s Turkey's consultant. He is a member of national Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Turkish Association of Oral Surgery, Turkish Dental Association and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and The International Association as international professional associations. He made the presidency of the International Dental Congress called “Dental Istanbul” in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, Journal of Turkish Dental International Scientific Congress in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Also, he is a founding member of Istanbul University, Physical Education and Sports School. He published numerous scientific research and presentations in international dental congresses.
His working areas are particularly stem cells, advanced implant surgery and implantology including surface properties of dental surgery in dentistry.
He is currently working as dean of İstanbul Atlas University Faculty of Dentistry.

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to a technology that implements human intellectual abilities such as learning, problem solving, and pattern recognition by creating and applying algorithms to a computing environment.AI models can be used for automated designs of dental restorations and devices. Some commercial dental software programs powered by deep learning models have been introduced to the market to automate the majority of tasks and reduce workload of dental healthcare professionals while ensuring a consistent level of outcome quality, independent of the user’s experience. These systems mainly consist of some advanced deep learning algorithms such as a convolutional neural network (CNN)or a generative adversarial network (GAN),which are widely evaluated in the field of digital dentistry.

Recently, a web-based GAN-powered design software has been commercially introduced to the field of digital dentistry, especially to design dental crowns for both anterior and posterior regions. In this lecture, I would like to report the clinical feasibility of a GAN-based dental software for designing of anatomic contour crowns, comparing the outcomes from a conventional dentalsoftware without the support of deep learning. This lecture covers the outcome of the researchon the performance of a generative adversarial network (GAN) based dental software for designing dental crowns in terms of time efficiency and occlusal morphology. The future of AI application in Prosthodontics will also be discussed. This lecture would broaden the knowledge of current application of AI technology in Prosthodontics for the clinicians interested in the digital dentistry.

MODERN CONCEPTS IN ESTHETIC DIGITAL IMPLANT DENTISTRY.

Dental implants in the esthetic zone has become a daily routine in our practice with the increased demand from patients to have them as cosmetically and functionally stable long term. To achieve these goals we have to understand the factors from bone and soft tissue reactions around the micro geometry of implants in the critical sub crestal area surrounding the implant abutment interface.

With a microsurgical approach in soft and hard tissue grafting around implants, using modern biologics and integrating 3D and CAD CAM technology for the proper planning and guiding of the implants treatment according to the best implant prosthodontic concepts, we may achieve a cosmetic and a functional long term stability around implants in these zones and full arch cases.

ADHESIVES AND DIRECT POSTERIOR RESTORATIONS: FROM RESEARCH TO CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

When it comes to dental treatments, posterior restorations are more than 70% of our daily work.

The main problems reported with composite direct posterior restorations are: post-operative sensitivity, bad contact point, difficulty of achieving a nice occlusal anatomy, and a short life of the restorations.

Adhesives are evolving and are the key of success of our restorations.

This lecture will develop the following topics:
1- Choosing and using modern adhesives and composites, with evidence-based tips and tricks to increase the performance of our restorations

2- Restoring posterior teeth in a predictable way and making a beautiful occlusal anatomy in a fast and easy way (FMT technique), without the need of an extensive adjustment of the occlusion

Prof. Dr. Louis Hardan

Prof. Louis Hardan, former head of the restorative and esthetic department at Saint Joseph University Beirut-Lebanon (2013-2019), actually director of the master program since 2019, coordinator of the prosthetic and esthetic master since 2021 and member of the digital, virtual and AI department since 2023.

He graduated dentistry in 1989 and continued his post-doctoral education at Saint Joseph University; he obtained a certificate for basic science in 1993, he completed his specialization in restorative and esthetic dentistry in 1995, and completed his PhD in oral biology andmaterials (Esthetic and Prosthetic Dentistry) in 2009.

He was an active member of the Lebanese Dental Association board (LDA) (2006-2009) and was assigned as a general secretary of the LDA in 2009.

At the present, he is a full professor at Saint Joseph University (restorative and esthetic department and digital, virtual and AI department) and owns a private practice in his home town Byblos.

He is an honorary and active international Styleitaliano member and the scientific director of this group. He is the Country Chairperson for Lebanon of the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD) since 2020, ESCD certified member, ESCD board member and international affairs chairperson since 2021.

He is the inventor of Smile Lite MDP (Smile Line, Switzerland) a device to take high quality dental pictures with a mobile phone (Winner of the best of class technology award for 2017 in USA and Best product award for 2022 in Europe) and Posterior Misura (LM instrument) an instrument for direct posterior composites.

Prof. Hardan has many publications and he is a guest editor in many indexed, high impact factor and citescoreinternational journals, wrote chapters in many international dental books and author of a book entitled: “Protocols for Mobile Dental Photography with auxiliary lighting” Quintessence Publishing 2020, and has given several international lectures and courses on esthetic, restorative dentistry, digital dentistry and mobile dental photography.

MATRIX SELECTION AND DEEP MARGINAL ELEVATION OR EXTENSION? HOW AND WHY?

According to the data and latest records, there is a high incidence of deep carious lesions that extensively spread in the sub-gingival proximal areas, mostly due to pervious failed restorations or uncontrolled drilling. And the challenge is how to restore a good broad contact area with a good seal. This lecture is presenting the main problem and the most repeatable techniques and approaches to solve this kind of cases to get best possible outcomes.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Baybora Kayahan

He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry, in 1995. Between 1995-2000, he worked as a research assistant at Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics. In 2000, he received Dr. Med. Dent. degree. He worked at Yeditepe University, Faculty of Dentistry from 2000 to 2014. He became Assistant Professor in 2002 and Associate Professor in 2008. He began to work at Okan University, Faculty of Dentistry in 2014 where he became a Professor of Endodontics. He is the author of many published in local and international journals. He gives courses and conferences on root canal shaping and procedural problems in endodontics. Dr. Kayahan is a certified member of European Society of Endodontology. He is the president of Turkish Endodontic Society and president-elect of Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation.

DIGITAL PLANNING AND WORKFLOW IN IMPLANT SURGERY WITH CASE PRESENTATIONS

Digital treatment applications have found their place in dentistry and continuously improving to perform more precise treatments. In modern implant procedures, prosthetically driven implant surgery is performed by dentists to achieve aesthetic and complication-free treatment outcomes. Surgical digital planning is very important for implementing this workflow in every patient. Taking it a step further, this digital planning can be transferred to the patient, replicating the ideal treatment planned on a computer directly in the patient’s alveolar ridge. This presentation will focus on the significance of digital planning and how it is carried out, using case presentations to show its importance in surgical workflows. Additionally, digital applications in implanvology, patient-specific planning and guided implant surgery details will be discussed with clinical case examples.

Prof. Dr. Erdem Kılıç

Erdem Kilic has graduated from dental school of Hacettepe University in 2000 and obtained his PhD degree and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Cumuriyet University in 2005. He worked as an academic staff in Oral and Maxillofacial Department of Erciyes University between 2005 and 2017. During this period in addition to his academic and clinical studies, he also held administrative positions such as chief of the department and vice dean. He served at Maxillofacial Department of St. Georges Hospital, London University as a visiting fellow for 4 months in 2010. He was entitled as an associate professor in 2012. He started to work as a faculty member in Bezmialem Vakıf University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2017. He became a professor at the same university in 2018. Since 2020 he is continuing his academic activities as a visiting professor at Bezmialem Vakıf University. Also he is performing his clinical activities in his own private dental clinic (KLC Dental Clinic). He is a member of national and international associations of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. His professional interests include 3D digital planning, augmentation of atrophic jaws and dentofacial deformities. He has more than 50 papers published in national and international journals related with his scientific field.

Prof. Dr. Emir Yüzbaşıoğlu

Dr. Yüzbaşıoğlu graduated from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Dentistry in 2003. He earned his doctorate degree in 2006 from Ondokuz Mayıs University Institute of Health Sciences in the field of Prosthodontics with his thesis titled "Investigation of ceramic implant abutments used in implant-supported fixed prostheses by finite element method". In 2010, he was appointed as Assistant Professor, in 2017 as Associate Professor and in 2022 as Professor. He is currently Vice Dean of Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Dentistry and Head of the Department of Prosthodontics. He continues his postgraduate education at Bahçeşehir University Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Educational Technologies, Educational Technologies Master programme. He is an active member of Turkish Dental Association (TDB), Turkish Prosthodontics and Implantology Association (TPID), International Association of Dental Research (IADR) and Computer Aided Dentistry Academy (CADA).

Digital technologies have rapidly gained popularity andbecome a routine part of everyday practice in the dental profession. Digital technology, which aims to speed up the daily work pace and make treatment procedures easier, is being used more and more in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In this presentation, the basis, advantages and disadvantages of these advanced technologies used in complex operations such as implant surgery and orthognathic surgery will be shared.

Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kan

He was born in Eskişehir in 1982. He graduatedfrom Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2005 and also started to work as a Research Assistant, Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. He received the title of specialist dentist and doctorof science (PhD) in 2011 by completing his thesistitled “Histomorphometric and radiological comparative examination of the effects of low-intensity laser application on distractionosteogenesis: Experimental research”.

In 2012, he was appointed to Kocaeli University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the title of Assistant Professor. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2017. After leaving the department where he was the Head of the Department between 2016-2018, he worked as a faculty member in the Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery at Biruni University Faculty of Dentistry between 2018-2021.

He continues his academic life in Istanbul Okan University Faculty of Dentistry, where he started to work since 2021. He has been assigned as Proffessor in 2022.

Dr. Kan, who is a member of plenty of local and international scientific associations, has many articles and book chaptersin indexed foreign and peer-reviewed internatioanal journals. Reconstruction of maxillo-mandibulardefects and bone regeneration methods, advanced dental implant surgeries, orthognathic surgery, and oral soft tissue surgeries are Dr.Kan's areas of interest. Dr. Kan is married and has two children.

Prof. Dr. B. Tugba TURK, DDS, PhD
Ege University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics

Dr. Tugba Turk is a Professor in the Department of Endodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ege University in Izmir, Turkey. She obtained her DDS degree and completed her PhD at Ege University. As a full-time faculty member, she is involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and supervising PhD students. Additionally, she has given lectures at postgraduate programs at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.

Dr. Turk has published several articles, received awards for her scientific studies, and presented at national and international conferences. She also serves as an editor and reviewer for several national and international journals. She is a member of the European Society of Endodontology, the Turkish Endodontic Society, and The Society of Stem Cell and Cellular Treatments.

Dr. Turk's research focus is on bio-minimal endodontic treatments, regenerative endodontics, dental stem cells, tissue engineering, and vital pulp therapies. Her expertise in these areas has enabled her to conduct clinical regenerative endodontic therapies involving a significant number of patients. Dr. Turk has published numerous articles, received several scientific awards, and presented at many international conferences including ESE, SIE, IES, BES, APEC, BDS, EDSI, MIDS Congresses.

TIPS FOR SIMPLIFYING LIFE IN DIGITAL DENTISTRY

Digital imaging systems, intraoral scanners, digital planning, 3D printers, and milling machines have become a part of our lives in all aspects of dental practice, both in the clinic and thelaboratory. While digital systems make our lives easier, theyalso increase the possibilities of making mistakes. These errorscan arise from factors such as inadequate training of the team, technological incompatibilities, pushing the indications, and thecharacteristics of newly developed materials.

In this presentation, we will discuss clinical tips to reduce errorsin digital workflows along with case examples.

Born in Istanbul, in 1981, Dr. Celebi graduated from Uskudar American Academy in 1999 and from Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2004. He opened his own private practice in 2005 and focused his work mainly on cosmetic dentistry
and implantology.

He co-founded DentGroup dental clinics in 2006, DentLab digital dental laboratory in 2015 and DentSoft dental management software company in 2019. In 2022, he became an investor in Orthero, Turkey’s biggest orthodontic aligner producer.

Dr. Celebi quit practicing dentistry in 2016. In 2021 he founded distedavim, Turkey’s first online payment and appointment platform for dental market. Dr. Celebi is a Co-Founder member of DEKID (Association of Dental Clinic Managers).

He has 2 daughters. His goal is to provide better service for the patients and better profitability for dental clinics. He gives lectures about clinic management, customer satisfaction and entrepreneurship.

My 17 years of Professional career could be evaluated in 2 main sections as the first 5 and the last 12 years. For the first 5 years of period; I worked in United States in various sectors such as service, sales and hotel industry. There; I had the chance to work with people from many different communities and that helped me to acquire various skills which would give me a broader vision on my journey in health sector which has been my final objective.

Since I started working under the brand of Dental Group Hospitadent in 2011, I have worked as founder and manager in all directorates of marketing and communication department. For the last 5 years, I have been working as the director of all the marketing activities of our brand and I’ve also been a member of the Executive Board.

Thanks to the experiences I have gained in the field of health tourism for the last 13 years; I have improved my advertising, patient satisfaction and fundraising skills and I have been managing a 2 million dollars budget with a marketing team of 45 people.
I currently lead my team in all activities which would help our brand to achieve effective results and I am personally involved in all processes. I carry out activities aimed at increasing the performance of my colleagues and carry out activities that enable our brand to reach its goals.

Developing software and production technologies have succeeded in raising our standards professionally. As technicians, it is very important to keep up with this developing technology. While ensuring this harmony, we must carefully transfer the teachings and concepts we follow in production to digital. I will share with you how we combined the digital workflow with the N.A.T. concept we followed in our workshop.

Erkut Koca was born on December 12, 1992 in Samsun. He completed his entire education in Istanbul. He completed his dental technician department, which he started at high school, at Istanbul University. He worked as a technical trainer at Medipol University, working in different positions in laboratories working with digital workflow. Today, he continues his restoration production and trainings in his own workshop and training center, and continues to be the official trainer of some international companies.

WHY SHOULD WE WORK WİTHİN THE CONCEPT ? N.A.T. CONCEPT AND OCCLUSAL COMPASS

Working within a concept in our profession is a compass in itself. If you have a road map, the roads taken will be more reliable and familiar. It guides both in determining the treatments and in the cause-oriented evaluation of the mishaps that occur in the process. On this basis, we will talk about the N.A.T. concept and the details of how we should position and use the occlusal compass in our profession.

Zeynep Serpil Gönen

She graduated from Hacettepe University in 2002 with first place. She established his own laboratory in 2004. After occlusion training from Christoph Zobler in 2010, she reshaped her professional life. Thanks to the special trainings he attended every year in Innsbruck, Austria between 2010-2016, he completed her master's education of the Slavicek concept. In 2017-2018, she studied the OBI concept in Spain and she received training in Germany. In 2018, she completed the NAT concept training at the master level and became an International trainer and is leading the New Generation trainers of the NAT concept, which was included after her. She also carries out studies on adapting the concept to digital. He continues his professional life with both dental production and trainings in his workshop, which is also an international training center in Fethiye.
